Senior AI & Software Engineer
Senior AI & Software Engineer
Location: Nigeria (On-site) Employment Type: Full-time Company: Esdiac
About Esdiac
Esdiac is a leading software development company with deep expertise in telecommunications and data-driven solutions. We design and build innovative products that power next-generation voice, video, and data communication systems. Our mission is to deliver seamless, secure, and high-performance communication tools that connect people across the globe.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior AI & Software Engineer to join our innovative technology team. This is a hybrid role for an engineer who is equally comfortable training a model and shipping the production service that serves it. You will design AI/ML solutions that optimize telecom networks and improve customer experience, and you will own the software that puts those solutions into carrier-grade production, the APIs, pipelines, deployment tooling, and monitoring that make them reliable at scale.
You will work closely with network engineers, data scientists, and product teams to apply AI and machine learning to real-world telecom challenges, and you will help set the engineering standards the rest of the team builds against.
Key Responsibilities
AI & Machine Learning
- Design and implement AI/ML algorithms tailored for telecom applications such as network optimization, predictive maintenance, fraud detection, call quality analysis, and customer behavior modeling.
- Analyze large volumes of telecom data (Call Detail Records, signaling logs, network KPIs, traffic patterns) to extract actionable insights.
- Build and maintain training, evaluation, and inference pipelines, including feature engineering, model versioning, and reproducible experiments.
- Optimize models for latency, throughput, and accuracy in real-time telecom systems, including quantization, batching, and hardware-accelerated serving where appropriate.
Software Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade backend services, APIs (REST/gRPC), and microservices that integrate AI models into telecom platforms and operational systems.
- Own features across the full software development lifecycle: requirements, system design, implementation, code review, testing, release, and post-deployment support.
- Write clean, well-documented, testable code and maintain meaningful unit, integration, and load test coverage.
- Design and operate high-volume data pipelines and streaming architectures (e.g. Kafka, Spark, Flink) for telecom-scale workloads.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code for repeatable, low-risk releases.
- Instrument services with logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting; monitor production systems and participate in incident response and on-call rotation.
- Engineer for scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability under carrier-grade traffic and uptime expectations.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, technical documentation, and engineering standards; mentor junior engineers through code review and pairing.
Collaboration & Compliance
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to improve network performance and reliability using AI-driven analytics.
- Partner with product and operations teams to translate business problems into well-scoped technical solutions.
- Stay current with emerging AI technologies and telecom industry trends to continuously innovate.
- Ensure AI systems and the software around them comply with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements in telecom.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years building and deploying machine learning systems in production.
- Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and distributed systems design.
- Strong programming skills in Python, plus proficiency in at least one of C++, Java, Scala, or Go.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or Keras.
- Practical experience with API design (REST/gRPC), relational and NoSQL databases, message queues, and caching layers.
- Experience with Git-based workflows, code review, automated testing, and agile delivery.
- Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tooling.
- Experience with telecom-specific data, such as Call Detail Records (CDRs), signaling logs, network KPIs, or traffic data.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for deploying software and AI models at scale.
- Knowledge of network protocols (SIP, VoIP, LTE/5G, TCP/IP) is highly desirable.
- Understanding of AI concepts including supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, NLP, or reinforcement learning.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced, telecom-focused environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with MLOps, model monitoring, feature stores, and AI deployment pipelines.
- Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and running services on-call.
- Familiarity with event-driven and real-time architectures, anomaly detection, or predictive modeling in telecom.
- Experience with VoIP/telephony stacks (e.g. Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio) or WebRTC.
- Knowledge of telecom operations, OSS/BSS systems, and network management.
- Experience with optimized model serving (ONNX, TensorRT, Triton) or GPU-accelerated inference.
- Exposure to secure communications standards (TLS, SRTP) and telecom data protection requirements.
